My friend Yassir and I, Aland shamma, are creating an online store together using shopify and we have ran into a problem when attempting to verify our business. We started the account together so we thought we’d put the owner’s name to “Yassir Aland”. Because of this, shopify is now asking us to verify the identity of a person called “Yassir Aland” who does not exist. We already changed the owner name to “Aland Shamma” but shopify is still asking us to verify the identity of “Yassir Aland” which we can’t do. How can we solve this problem?
Hey @alandshamma .
Thanks for reaching out.
I appreciate the context that you have shared with us as that is very helpful! Since I cannot authenticate you over the Community forums due to the sensitive information that needs to be shared, I am unable to look into the specifics.
In this case, it would be best to reach out to our live support by logging into your online store using the Contact Us page. This will allow us to verify you as the store owner.
Once you successfully login - you will be directed to the Help Center. Select the topic that you would like assistance with to locate the options to Get Support and speak directly to a Support Advisor about the situation.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Hello @alandshamma ,
This is Gina from flareAI app helping Shopify merchants get $6Million+ in sales from Google Search, on autopilot.
To solve the problem of Shopify asking you to verify the identity of a non-existent person, you will need to contact Shopify’s support team directly to help you resolve the issue.
Here are the steps you can take.
-
Log in to your Shopify account.
-
Click on the “Help” icon at the bottom right of the screen.
-
Click on “Talk to support” and select a support option such as “Chat” or “Email.”
-
Explain the situation to the support representative and provide any relevant details, such as your account email and store URL.
-
Ask them to remove the name “Yassir Aland” from the verification process and update the verification requirements to reflect the new owner name of “Aland Shamma.”
-
Follow any instructions provided by the support representative to complete the verification process successfully.
Shopify’s support team is generally very responsive and helpful, so you should be able to get this issue resolved quickly.
Gina
