How to solve recurring APO military shipping label issues?

This error is a repeat offender - but once again, I am unable to purchase APO labels despite having shipped to this customer multiple times in the past. I have added commas, taken commas away, checked the USPS address verifier and copied the address exactly as it’s been entered in the past.

Error Message : This address may be incorrect. Review the address or continue if you know the address is correct. Learn more about reviewing addresses.

Any updates or suggestions?

Hi @MAE333 !

APO addresses are notoriously difficult to verify using an automated system. If you have confirmed that the address entered is correct then you can ignore the warning message and continue to purchase the label.

You can also buy the shipping label from the shipping provider directly as well if there are any issue completing the order in your admin.

Shopify’s address verification system uses Google address database to recognize and autofill addresses. There is no easy “fix” for these issues validating APO addresses as their format is so unique.

Hi,

No I can’t continue to purchase the label, that is the problem. If the solution was to just click through to continue I would do that.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Hiya! I’ve been having the same issue for months. It’s been a reason I’ve been considering leaving Shopify. It’s as you say. Despite what Shay said, it doesn’t LET you move forward anyway. I just found a stupid work around though!!! Where it says city, I typed: (Military Address) APO

Assumedly that doesn’t cause any issues with shipping, though it’s messy as hell. And Shopify acknowledges it for some reason! So it’s ugly, but it gets the job done! Hope it does for you too. Good luck!

My work around was to add an HS code to the customs info. A quick google search of my item led me in the right direction and when I typed out the number I thought it would be (for me it was vinyl decals: 4908) the correct item number appeared as a drop down item. Fixing the HS code enabled me to purchase the label. Never had this problem before with any of my APO or any of the 24 countries I’ve shipped to. Not sure why this one bugged, but that was my fix. Hope that helps.
