How to target Apple\Safari users for product ads

Topic summary

A Shopify store owner is trying to understand how to reach Apple/Safari users with product ads after setting up Google Shopping and Microsoft Advertising.

Initial Confusion:

  • The poster lacks Apple device experience and wants to know which shopping engine serves ads when Apple users search for products on their devices.

Key Clarifications:

  • Shopping ads don’t allow device-specific targeting to Apple products.
  • Available options are limited to computer, tablet, and smartphone categories with bid modifiers (up to 90%).
  • Safari users can set their own default search engine, making it impossible to predict which platform (Google or others) will deliver search results.

Recommended Solution:

  • Use Google Analytics to view referrer data and understand actual traffic sources from different devices and browsers.

Status: The question remains partially unresolved, as direct Apple user targeting isn’t feasible through standard shopping ad platforms.

Hello,

We recently launched our Shopify site. I have or products syncing with Google Shopping and the Microsoft Advertising merchant center. My question is how do I target Apple users? Admittedly, I have no experience with Apple since I only own only and Windows devices. When an Apple user searches for products on their device, which shopping engine serves the ads? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Unfortunately that is not possible in shopping ads. You can only choose computer, tablet and smartphones.

Even then, the option is to only add a bid modifier of 90%.

Hello again. Thanks for the response. I guess I am asking the wrong question since I am not an apple user and therefore have no experience. When an iPhone user searches for products in Safari or whichever browser or search function is native, which service provides the search results? Google, or something else?

A user can define there own search website, so no way of answering your question.

If you want to know, I recommend you use Google Analytics and view the referral data.
