How to test a payment only on one product, not the whole catalog

hi,

i need to go back to test mode to verify and test ONLY one product with specific fields options from one APP. i don’t want to disable the whole shop, i just need to make a order with my tested product and , obviously, pay with the test method.

is it possible to isolate the payment test on one product instead the entire shop ?

My product is already hidden, i access it with url, but once i went to check out, the “fake” CB from the shopify page is not working (i’m not in test mode)

https://help.shopify.com/fr/manual/payments/shopify-payments/testing-shopify-payments

how can perform such test without closing all the shop ?

Hello, You can’t enable payment test mode for just one product, because test mode is applied at the store level rather than per product, so if you want to test checkout and payments you’ll need to temporarily enable test mode for the entire store or use a separate development/duplicate store to safely run tests without affecting live transactions.

Hi @michael80000 ,
No, in Shopify Payments you cannot enable test mode for only one product. Test mode applies to the entire store checkout, not individual products.

  • Enable Shopify Payments test mode temporarily, place your test order, then disable it again.
  • Or create a 100% discount code and place a test order without real payment.
  • Or duplicate the product in a password-protected development theme and test there.
  • Best option: use a Shopify development store to test app product options safely.

isn ‘t possible to put an IP address (like our static office) only in test mode and remain the world in full mode ?

No, if you can’t fidn it by a basic internet such questions are time wasters and false hope.

Merchants going it alone just have to find the stores off hours to do the test at that time.
Preferably with theme templates that prevent unwanted checkouts during that time or reschedule a visit.
OR if the third party app setup isn’t complicate for an initial test use a work with a partner on a dev store.
That way you find any big problems with lower risk on a test site first, then do the full test on the live store.

thank you for the information.

you spoke about “stores off hours”, does shopify allow to configure the hours of opening shop.
If we do not want people make order during the night or closed-fest-days (because we have a 48h answering legal obligation to manage orders).

i did not find such options in shop to tell opening hours…

Either just use vacation mode, turn off payment methods, or use a theme/templatee without buy buttons, etc etc etc
