Whats the best way to test shopify apps for your store without them leaving any trace of their code on your store?
I normally download the theme file, test bunch of apps, uninstall them and then restore the downloaded theme. Can this method still affect my site speed?
Also has anyone experienced reduce site speed after installing shopify inbox?
Not sure if it does not affect your theme if you duplicate the theme, download an app and open the duplicated theme. I have not tried it yet if it affects other themes if you dont open it app. You can always create a development store and try it there.
Regarding Shopify inbox, I am wanting to contact them since it does affect the speed of the Shopify website. If you run lighthouse, it will show you what are the things the affects the speed of your store.
For Shopify inbox, it shows, they have a function written as document.write(), which slows the speed and also some DOM size as well.

Certain apps let you choose the theme to install, some install on live by defaut, some install on every single theme on your store
Make a second store, to test, you’ll have to deal with a few dificulties.
You can also just have a developer on call, removing redundant code might take 1-2 minutes, plus 5 minutes - 1 hour to find the app code itself
Shopify inbox for sure slows down website speed. I re-installed the app recently only to find our website wouldn’t load on safari browser at all. After deleting it, website started working fine again.
I have major trust issues with free shopify apps now.
