How to track individual card performance in Facebook carousel ads?

Topic summary

Problem: The poster cannot see performance metrics for each individual card in a Facebook carousel ad. In Ads Manager, the “breakdown by carousel card” shows only overall carousel stats, with individual card rows blank. Each card links to a different product page, and the poster suspects extra URL parameters are needed.

Latest update: After a response suggesting UTM parameters, the poster asks which exact UTM parameter to add, seeking specific guidance to differentiate card-level clicks.

Key terms: • Carousel ads: multi-image/video ads where each “card” can have its own link. • UTM parameters: URL tags (e.g., utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content) used to attribute traffic in analytics tools.

Status: No resolution yet. Open items: • Clarify the exact UTM parameterization per card (e.g., distinct values to identify each card) so analytics can attribute clicks. • Unanswered question on why Ads Manager’s per-card breakdown is blank despite separate links, and whether additional setup is required within Facebook’s reporting.

Hi all,

When doing a carousel ad on Facebook, how do I get it to track the performance of each individual card in the carousel? I have given each card a link to a different product page but when I look at the breakdown by carousel card in the ads manager it just gives me the stats for the carousel as a whole and it’s blank for the individual cards. I think I need to enter some extra URL parameters but I’m not sure what to enter.

Can anyone advise on this please?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks James. Are you able to say what UTM parameter I should add exactly?
