Hello, I recently accepted a collaborator request in order to change something on my website. Is there a way that I can view a log of things that they change or edit so that I am able to ensure that they are only touching the things that they are supposed to. I am aware that I can assign permissions to certain aspects of my store, but there is still potential for them to do something malicious or accidentally mess something up within the permissions that they need. Thank you.
Topic summary
A store owner seeks to monitor changes made by a collaborator to ensure they only modify authorized areas, despite being aware of permission settings.
Suggested Solution:
- Navigate to Settings > General > Store Activity Log in Shopify Admin
- This log tracks changes and identifies which account made them
- Useful for monitoring collaborator activity
Limitation Identified:
A user reports the Activity Log has significant gaps in coverage:
- Records login events and basic actions (blog posts, marketplace item removals)
- Does NOT track important changes like:
- Meta tag edits
- Product description/title modifications
- App-related changes
Status: The discussion remains open with an unresolved concern about incomplete audit trail capabilities. For changes not captured in the log, direct contact with Shopify Support via Help Center is recommended.
Hi there, @Taiku ! Thanks for taking the time to reach out to the Shopify Community Forums with your question today! My name is Imogen. It’s good to meet you!
Your Shopify Admin is able to provide tracking for changes and activities occurring within your store via the Activity Log! You can use this log to view changes that have been made (like an adjustment made to a specific store setting or product) and see what account was tied to that change as well! You can find this log by logging into your Shopify Adming, going to ‘Settings’ > ‘General’, and then scroll down the page and selecting the ‘Store Activity Log’ option that is present!
This should help you keep an eye on changes that are being made in your time working with this collaborator! If you require any additional support with this situation, or suspect a change may have been made that isn’t recorded in the activity log, you can reach out to us directly via our Help Center!
But this option do nto show almsot nothing. Only when someone log in and change for example a blog post or remove a item from soem marketpalce. But hwen someone edit meta tags or product description , tittle or change any apps there is no information about it in logs.
