Since launching the shopify site, my traffic has been on the high side, yet only .07% are converting. The site was build by a certified Shopify builder using a Shopify template. What am I missing?
This is tough to say without knowing your shop inside and out. Low conversions could mean that you are reaching the wrong audience with your marketing, or that your developer (even a Shopify Partner) did a poor job optimizing for conversion, or that your offer isn’t appealing to your visitors - This can come down to price, complexity, presentation, or even your shipping rates.
Our shipping is a flat $5.00 regardless of order size and pricing has done
well at our retail locations. This leaves audience. How do I narrow the
focus to the right audience?
Like I said, the site could be the issue too. As for audience, that depends on where your traffic is coming from. If you’re spending a lot on ads, it could be that your targeting parameters are off or that you’re advertising on the wrong platforms. You need to meet your customers where they are, so it could be a question of changing up the platforms you use to advertise. Is your site bubnmuthas.com? If so, the shipping may actually be part of the problem. Are you getting a lot of abandoned carts? Most of the products on the homepage are $8.99. A lot of people will bounce if they see $5 flat rate shipping on a ~$9 product since that’s more than half the cost of the product.
My site is www.bubnmuthas.com and to ship a single 6 ounce bottle is over
$4. If I offer free shipping, 100% of the profits are gone. Fortunately,
our orders average $32 so people buy more than one at a time. I probably
get less than 6 single bottle orders per year.
I am leaning to the idea that our ad spend is on the wrong groups of
people. Now I just have to figure how to find the right group.
