Huge Customer Experience Issue with new "Payment Approve & Reiceipt Landing Page"

We’re soon running a dozen very busy cafés with Shopify POS, doing more than 50k tickets.

We’re generally very happy with most things…
But the not optional receipt selection was always a huge point of confusion for the customer. Sadly, the latest update made it much worse. Instead of making the information “Payment Approved/Successful” the central message, it’s those huge clickable buttons.

Why?
Because of TSE and some regulatory necessity, none of the tickets that can be sent via email/text are valid. In 99% of cases, a customer wants a receipt for entertainment expenses, for which the normal one is not enough. This can only be selected by the barista. Rendering the whole screen useless at best. But most of the time the customers are confused by it. Also, now the “No Receipt” option is hidden below, and it’s not obvious at all that you need to scroll down.
It’s a payment terminal, not a phone; people intuitively don’t scroll on those things… We have to train now 50+ staff to click two additional buttons per sale to quickly let this screen disappear by closing the order…

Please, Shopify POS Team, make this screen optional.

Hey @CMBerlin ,

I can understand why this would be frustrating, especially in a high volume retail environment. Having to interact with the receipt selection screen after every transaction can slow down the checkout process and create confusion for both staff and customers.

Making the receipt selection screen optional, or allowing merchants to configure a default behavior, would provide more flexibility while keeping the checkout experience faster for businesses that don’t need to present these options on every sale.

Thank You !

For that kind of volume the practical fix is to stop asking per ticket at all. In the POS app under receipt settings you can set a default per location (no receipt, or auto-print) instead of “ask every time”. Once there’s a default, most transactions skip that selection screen entirely, so those giant buttons stop being the customer’s problem.

You can’t restyle Shopify’s approved-payment screen itself, so removing the prompt is the real lever rather than fighting the layout. It’s also worth sending that screenshot to POS support as feedback, high-ticket cafe flows are exactly where a redesign like this hurts most. Right now are your staff handing the device to the customer to pick, or picking for them? That changes which default makes sense.
