I am trying to unlock my purchase domain to transfer it to another website

I am trying to get to the Shopify help center and all sites seem to be down. I am getting a screen that says there are too many redirects when all I am typing into the search bar is Shopify help center. I am trying to transfer a domain I purchased through Shopify to a new website provider. I am hoping to find some solutions on here as there are no other ways for me to contact shopify help or the 24/7 support chat. Please let me know if you know where to go from here.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community. I’m happy to provide some assistance with this request, to ensure it gets resolved. To confirm I’m fully understanding, do you currently have access to the shop that the domain is connected too?

If so, you can complete this transfer directly from the Shopify admin. We have a great Transferring Shopify Managed Domains document available, that touches on these steps in detail, that I’d recommend checking out. It outlines, that you can:

  • Head to Settings > Domains, from the Shopify admin
  • In the Domains section, click the name of the domain that you want to transfer.
  • Click Domain settings > Transfer to another provider.
  • Review the information, and then click Confirm. The domain authorization code is displayed on your domain’s information page.
  • Give the domain authorization code to your new domain provider to verify the transfer.

As for accessing the Shopify Help Center, I’d recommend attempting a few local troubleshooting steps if you haven’t done so already. This will allow us to determine whether this is an issue related to your browser or Shopify directly. For ease, I’ve gone ahead and listed those steps below for you to complete:

  • Clear your Cache and Cookies.
  • Access the shop in an Incognito Tab.
  • Try accessing the shop from Another Browser (i.e Chrome, Firefox, or Safari).
  • Try Another Device (i.e your phone).
  • Try accessing from the Shopify Mobile App.
  • Try Restarting your device.
  • Make sure your device is Up To Date.

If after completing all of the outlined steps above, you’re still receiving that error within the Shopify Help Center, you can connect with us directly. This will allow our support team to take a closer look as we wouldn’t have access to any account details through the Community.

To connect, you can:

  • Head over to our Help Center.

  • Enter into the chat box Contact Support.

  • Log into your shop.

  • Select one of the available support options.
