I build apps — what does your store actually need?

I’m a solo dev with four Shopify apps live, and I’d rather build what merchants actually want than guess at it.

So tell me: what’s the app your store needs that doesn’t exist? Or exists but is bloated, overpriced, or missing the one feature that matters?

Whatever gets the most traction in the comments — I’ll build it.

Not selling anything here. Just looking for real pain worth solving.

Hey @Robert_Dainowski ,

One thing I’d really like to see is a simple inventory forecasting app.

A lot of inventory tools either feel too basic or come with so many settings and reports that they become difficult to use. It would be great to have something that looks at sales history, current stock, and seasonal trends and simply tells you which products are likely to run out and when you should reorder.

A simple “what needs my attention today?” section would also be really useful.

I’d personally prefer an app that does one inventory problem really well rather than one that tries to do everything.

Thank You!

This is very good and honest feedback! I think this is a common problem with store fronts they have genuine problems that need a simple cost effective simple solution that “just works” . I am ledgering this one as we speak. Thank you for the feedback - Robert

It appears that - a more simplistic app that solves one pain point is needed. I am logging this with my team now !!!

I actually went the opposite route - instead of researching what merchants might need, I started by building for my own store.

The goal was simple: save my own time and improve processes that were annoying me every week.

I ended up building four small apps around problems I was dealing with myself. Only recently I decided to take the first one public and see whether it’s useful to other merchants too.

My thinking is that if something is genuinely useful enough that I keep using it in my own business, there’s a decent chance other stores have the same pain. Then it’s more about finding that audience over time rather than trying to guess the perfect app idea upfront.
