I can no longer access Google Custom Labels 0-4 in Shopify bulk editor

Topic summary

Google Shopping “Custom label 0–4” columns disappeared from Shopify’s bulk editor, preventing bulk updates used for Shopping campaign segmentation. Multiple users confirmed the issue.

Workarounds shared:

  • Manually load the columns by appending the custom_label metafields to the bulk editor URL (metafields.mm-google-shopping.custom_label_0 … _4). Bookmarking the URL makes reuse easier.
  • Use a third‑party bulk editing app (Ablestar Bulk Product Editor) for previews, undo, and import/export.

Escalation and ownership:

  • One participant advised reporting to Google Merchant Center support via the Shopify 3P support form. Another suspected it might be a Shopify-side issue.

Most recent update and outcome:

  • After contacting Google, support “restored the relevant columns,” which now appear again in Shopify’s bulk editor by default. This indicates the issue was resolved via Google, at least for the reporting merchant.

Notes:

  • Screenshots and a short video were provided to illustrate the URL workaround and app option but aren’t required to apply the fix.

Status: Resolved. If the problem recurs, use the URL workaround and/or contact Google Merchant Center support.

Hi,

I don’t see the Google Shopping fields either in the dropdown in the Shopify bulk editor. It’s a little bit a of a workaround but you can still get the columns to appear by modifying the URL of the page in the bulk editor.

First of all go to the products page of your admin and take everything before “/products”:

Then add this text to the end of the URL:

/bulk?resource_name=Product&edit=metafields.mm-google-shopping.custom_label_0%2Cmetafields.mm-google-shopping.custom_label_1%2Cmetafields.mm-google-shopping.custom_label_2%2Cmetafields.mm-google-shopping.custom_label_3%2Cmetafields.mm-google-shopping.custom_label_4

This should result in a URL like this:

admin.shopify.com/store/example-store/bulk?resource_name=Product&edit=metafields.mm-google-shopping.custom_label_0%2Cmetafields.mm-google-shopping.custom_label_1%2Cmetafields.mm-google-shopping.custom_label_2%2Cmetafields.mm-google-shopping.custom_label_3%2Cmetafields.mm-google-shopping.custom_label_4

If you go to that URL, you should see the columns in the Shopify bulk editor:

I know it’s a hassle but if you bookmark the URL it should be pretty easy to access.

Finally, if you’re open to using a third-party our Ablestar Bulk Product Editor lets you quickly bulk edit Google Shopping fields with previews, undos and spreadsheet imports/exports. Here’s a quick walkthrough:

Let me know if you have any problems creating the URL and I can take a deeper look for you.
