I was able to add an image from a url on product detail page. Now I can only see “select existing” or “upload new”.
What happened to that feature?

Its Artzen Technologies! We will be happy to help you today.
With the new shopify version came many updates. This is one of that update.
Now the admin can only select images from Existing or Can Select from System and can’t add it from the URL.
The image from URL feature is removed to avoid any copyright issue later in the future. So, there are now only 2 options to upload image to the product.

You need click on Select existing button → it will show in the popup after click select existing button
Another click for no reason, no idea why they moved it, but more faff for the end user.
rejecting any image I try to upload. this really sucks! shopify gets worse and worse!
I tried images from over 15 sites and every one gives me an error. these are all sites I have been uploading images from for a year. Shopify made a change at I cannot add products to my site

Could you try to Shopify support team? Maybe they limited size of file. I only can add small file on my store.
yes. a tech support rep emailed me and just deflected as if nothing changed in shopify and tried to say the links were bad. 20 sites all that I have been uploading from for a year all had problems in the same week. lol. Shopify support has turned into a total joke.
