How to I stop/pause the trial? I’m not ready to start
Topic summary
Issue: A user unintentionally activated their Shopify store and wants to pause or preserve the 3‑day free trial.
Key clarification: The trial begins automatically once a store is created and cannot be paused.
Options and recommendations:
- You can create as many new free trial stores as needed if you’re not ready to proceed with the current one.
- Use the current trial time to explore the platform and export data (products, customers, theme) for later import into a new store.
Billing and closure:
- If no credit card or billing details are added, the store will automatically close at the end of the 3 days with no charges.
- You can reactivate the store later if desired.
Status: Question answered; no pause feature, but workarounds and next steps provided.
Hi @BaneStar007
Once you create a store the trial period will automatically start. But you can create as many new free trial stores as you like. So I recommend using this time to familiarize yourself with the Shopify platform. You can export products/customers/theme so that you can import it into a new store at a later date if you wish.
@Aleesia is correct in that if you do not have any credit card or billing payment details on file then the store will close automatically at the end of the 3 days. You will have the option to reactivate it at any time if you wish.
