Hello Kidus,
Thanks for reaching out to the community!
Here are some ways to optimize your website, improve its ranking on the search engine results page (SERP), and get more traffic and conversions.
- Keyword Research: It is the core of SEO, and if done effectively, it can help your website to rank better on SERP. You can optimize the process by:
- Understanding the search intent of the users and determining the keywords they can use for their research
- Use keyword research tools, like Wordtracker, SEMrush, Linkdex, Moz, and UberSuggest, to search the keywords and ascertain their effectiveness and competitiveness
- Target long-tail keywords, which are very specific and descriptive, and help in targeting the right set of audience for the website
- Use the keywords in title tags, meta descriptions, URLs, page titles, the content of the website, product names and descriptions, images’ alt texts and file names, etc.
- SEO Audit: This technique helps the users assess the website on the basis of SEO factors, determine SEO-related errors on the website, and fix them to improve the SEO score, and rank better on SERP.
- Optimize Product Images: You can optimize product images by:
- Compressing their file size to reduce their loading time
- Adding alt texts to the images
- Adding a keyword to the alt texts and file names of the images
- Taking and uploading images from all angels to give 360-degree view to the users
- Write Unique Product Descriptions: Product descriptions should be unique (not copied from other websites), and mention all the specifications and features of the products in detail.
- Optimize Site Structure: Optimized site structure makes it easy for the users to read the content on the website, and make it look professional (which attracts the customers and gives the impression that the website is reliable and authentic). You can enhance the site structure by:
- Add images, videos, and carousels
- Organize content under different headings and ensure the consistency of the font format of the headings
- Choose the right color palette and website theme to make it look appealing and authentic
- Enable Rich Snippets: Rich snippets help the website stand out on SERP, which can improve the click-through rate of the website. You can add Product Markup Snippet, FAQs Snippet, Homepage Snippet, etc.
- Fix Broken Links: Broken links hamper user experience and also act as a barrier for the search engine crawlers to effectively crawl and index the website, and help it rank better. So, identify and fix the broken links on the website by redirecting the traffic to the right location.
- Improve Website Navigation: If the website navigation is too complicated, then users cannot find the products on the website and may leave the website immediately, so make it very simple and if possible add a user sitemap on the website.
- Optimize Page Speed: Good page speed is liked by the users, and search engines consider it an important signal in the ranking algorithm. The speed of the website can be improved by:
- Compressing the images
- Removing unused JavaScript and CSS
- Reducing the number of redirects
- Implementing Accelerated Mobile Pages
- Implementing lazy loading
- Compressing large fonts and unnecessary glyphs
- Utilizing Content Delivery Network
- Submit XML Sitemap to GSC: XML sitemap comprises the URLs to all the webpages on the website, and helps the search engine crawlers to easily find, crawl, and index the pages of the website. Thus, ensure to submit an XML sitemap to Google Search Console to improve the chances of getting a higher ranking on SERP.
- Link Building: Backlinks are the best way to get discovered on search engine platforms, and here are some ways to get quality backlinks:
- Create good quality content
- Guest posting on the blog posting websites
- Collaborate with the suppliers/partners/distributors
- Encourage customers to post testimonials
- Approach related businesses to request backlinks
- Follow competitors’ link-building strategy
- Use SEO tools, like Raven, to identify link-building opportunities for the website
- Improve Social Media Engagement: Social media platforms are the best platforms to engage and interact with customers to understand their perceptions and get their feedback to further enhance the website.
- Optimize Checkout Process: If the checkout process on the website is complicated, then it can increase the cart abandonment rate. So, here are some suggestions for you:
- Implement a one-page checkout process to make it easy for users to complete payments
- Offer discounts to users or free shipping
- Establish and publish detailed return and exchange policy on the store
- Offer different payment options, like debit card, credit card, and PayPal
- Launch a campaign for cart abandonment, like sending emails to the users reminding them about their cart, or offering them a special discount
- Local SEO: If your business targets local customers, then this process can significantly help your business. Here are the tips:
- Use the keywords ranking best in the local territorial region
- Customize the content and theme of the website according to customers’ preferences
- Publish content according to local events and festivities
- Ensure consistency of NAP (Name, Address, and Phone Number), as inconsistent NAP reduces the significance of backlinks from local directories and also confuse the users
Hope it helps!

Hello Leesha
Thank you for your brief explanation, I will do what you suggested me to do.
Hi @Kidus !
Greta is away and asked me to take a look at this on their behalf. I’ve taken a look at your website and can tell you’ve put a lot of work in it - good job! I do have a few suggestions to improve the overall experience. I believe these changes will help with traffic and conversion longterm:
Homepage Adjustments
- Below the header, your first section should be the slideshow. A captivating carrousel of images will entice the visitor to keep scrolling. If you keep a list of collections at the top, they may feel as though they landed on the wrong page
- Below the slide show, I would suggest the list of collections just like you have. Then a featured product. Its nice to offer an accelerated checkout option on the first page - ideally for a best seller product or something you want to showcase.
- Lastly, I would make an entire section for signing up for the newsletter. Not just in your footer. It’s a great way to capture emails and send email marketing in future.
Main Menu Updates
Love that you have a tracking page and contact - those are great transparency links that will make your customers trust your shop. However, I would suggest expanding on your shopping links. Instead of having collections, catalog and categories, you could have a “Gadget” link (with a dropdown of “Tech” “Car” “Fitness” “Kitchen”). Then “Pets” and finally, “Fashion” (with a dropdown of “Beauty Care” “Jewelry”). This gives a better glimpse of your catalog without being too generic yet not too overwhelming.
Note: make sure that your links are correct. Some of the tech links bring me to a blank page
Along with other feedback, I think these points will help improve the overall experience of your store.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Cheers!
Dear Holly
This is really helpful,Thank you.
Cheers mate!
