I don't want Shopify credits - how do I get my money back?

I bought an item at apparently one of your partners, and it was defective, so I returned it.

Instead of giving me a credit card charge back like every other sane retailer on the planet, they gave me Shopify credits in return, ostensibly to encourage or lock me into spend the money with them again.

I was like okay, well, maybe I will buy something at their store again.

Many months later, I realize, there’s nothing from their online store I want to buy from them again.

How do I get my money back from Shopify

Can I use these things somewhere else than their store.

Can I just transfer them to my Paypal or back to the original credit card or to my bank account.

Hi @mrstarr

I definitely understand your desire for a full refund after returning an item you purchased. Shopify as a platform doesn’t offer a universal credit system and any credits applied by a business would be unique to that store.

In this situation I would recommend reaching out to the store you purchased from to see if they will refund the credits back to your payment method. Each business has their own return and exchange policies, and offering a store credit is a common practice for a lot of stores.
