I’m new to the Shopify scene

Will someone be willing to look at my store and give me some feedback please. It’s my first time building up a website and I’m not finished yet I know it’ll be a few days before I get to where I feel it’ll be nice. My store is https://truths-secrets.myshopify.com

It’s definitely been a journey to learn how to build the website and I’m looking for the feedback. Yes I have a regular gmail and imma upgrade it when I get my first sales that’s one of the first things imma do.

Just on first glance:

  1. Header is too big, takes up 20% of the screen. It’s probably from the logo. Crop the logo to get rid of empty pixels, especially from the top and from the bottom.

  2. Put your collections in the menu, under Catalog.

  3. This “Embrace your truth” text on a desktop, looks way too big.

Good start for a first store. The brand direction with inclusivity and elegance is solid, and the imagery gives off the right vibe for that space.

A few things I’d focus on as you keep building it out. The section heading “Undergarments example products” reads like a placeholder. You probably want something that speaks more to your brand, like “Our Collection” or even just the product category name.

The homepage has a lot of large banner sections stacked on top of each other, but it takes a while before I actually see a product I can buy. For a store like this, I’d move a featured product collection higher up on the page so visitors can start browsing within the first scroll. Right now someone has to scroll through multiple hero images before they get to the actual products.

One practical thing to check: your currency selector is picking up visitor location and showing VND for me. If you’re targeting a specific market (US, UK, etc), make sure your primary market is set correctly in Settings > Markets so the default currency makes sense for your main audience.

Also, Maximus3 made a good point about the logo size. A quick fix is to crop the extra whitespace around the logo image itself before uploading.

What niche within undergarments are you going for? Knowing that would help give more specific feedback on the product pages.

Hi @TruthsSecrets

Welcome to the community.

It is good that you asked for feedback while working on store. And first, I will give you advice that not many follow, but do take time and go through the community and topics about store feedback, and search for “no sales” and “zero sales” if you want to learn and prepare on time, that is a good way to get some good tips to improve your own store.

Now specifically about your store. First, you have to invest in a domain and in an email. You say you will update when you get first sales, but what if first sales do not come for 3 or 6 months? And how many people will leave store because of no trust in myshopify subdomain and Gmail email? Plus no other contact info. Like one other member said here on the forum, “If I see gmail I assume it is a scammer,” And maybe not many people think like that, but it is a valid point.

One thing I saw straight away is that cursive font, it is Ok for headings, but for the rest, the body font it is not very readable.

Your logo color does not stand out that much, plus that text is not so readable when the logo is small, and it should be small.

Now your text, “Embrace your truth,” is a bit too much, but “At Truths Secret, we embrace the art of intimacy with a commitment to inclusivity and elegance. Our mission is to empower every individual to feel confident and radiant in their own skin.” When I see “our mission” “empower” it makes me sick. What mission? Your mission is to sell and close and get money, to be honest, there is no mission. This looks like AI-generated slop. You think customers will search for " mission" and " empower," no, they will use other keywords.

Make as many collections as you want: For her, for Him, bra, sets… and so on, and on each collection give some description.

And product names " black 2 pcs. Set CB229 - XL" or “Devotion” are both bad for different reasons. Again, say what it is exactly, thinking about what people might search for. And your product page needs more blocks and sections.

Good luck with the store building. You have some work to do. If you want, research and learn, on time. And apply what you find out.

Very much appreciate the feedback. It’s definitely gonna be a journey as I fine tune the store to where I would like it to be. I didn’t know it’s possible to rename the products

Appreciate the feedback. I definitely will be taking the time to fine tune the store I as I get more used to it and figure out what goes where. So I definitely appreciate the feedback tell me wheee to place it thank you

The embrace your truth on my noble it shows it as being stuck in her hair on mobile which is I’m building the store on as I’m in the process of moving residences. I was trying to figure out how to slide the saying up some on the page so it didn’t intersect with her hair

Hi @TruthsSecrets when new ANYWHERE: location location location.
You wouldn’t go to a jewelry store in the mall asking them to fix your furniture when there’s a literal furniture store across the way.
Just because it’s digital doesn’t mean things you’d never do in the physical is a benefit.

LOOK first → Store Feedback
It’s not a good sign to skip such bare minimums effort it’s a cliche indicator of future failure.
Show your work: that you’ve looked at others stores problems on the forums, or basic internet research, etc
Do the work in advance and present it when seeking help from others to do work for you.

Otherwise your just setting yourself up for failure by conditioning yourself to accept whatever glossy feel good nonsense someone/bot presents as a “solution”.

If your actually serious either invest in a business course(IN PERSON NOT REMOTE), critical thinking class, communications, or at minimum stuff like http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

Critical self awareness is the cheapest way to avoid failure.

Store feedback

Avoid doing things to customers you would find annoying on someone elses site.

  • 1. When using script type fonts for UI/nav etc you need to increase the font-size.
    • Do you like having to squint on tiny font sites, why do that to customers.
  • 2. Test the design without fancy fonts, adjust accordingly
  • 3. Avoid centering things just to center things or you end up with problems such as logos disappearing over model photography.
    • If you must center for no reason then likely need to give the header or logo a background or shadow that contrasts the other centered content effectively.
  • 4. Show a product LINK TO A PRODUCT at minimum a collection that product is in on the first page.
  • 5. Avoid harsh breaks between sections when trying to appeal to luxury; instead of toying with sections* take what you have so far and work in photoshop or figma to toy with making a more simple seamless design in a more artistic manner then do it in shopify sections; often using cut up images as a beginning approach. *
    • *You’re gonna have a bad time trying to do seamless in sections without knowing what your doing or having a plan(mockup) already to guide you.

Appreciate the feedback it’s duly noted. If possible can I reach out later

Hi @TruthsSecrets

The store has a good-looking layout and a clear niche, which is definitely a positive point. Concentrate on product images and descriptions to make the benefits obvious. Add some trust signals such as reviews, shipping information, and an obvious return policy. Streamline the navigation, and make your call-to-action buttons more prominent so you can start leading your visitors toward checkout.
