I made a purchase and the seller refuses to provide tracking and confirm he will steal my money

I’ve made a purchase on 6/6/23 and the seller outright refuses to provide shipping tracking information.

I’ve exchanged texts with him several times and he’s confirmed via text that he will be stealing my money and will not send the item. I’ve been dealing with Affirm support since i financed through them. I need to speak with a representntive from Shopify to resolve this matter and report this seller as fraud. He’s giving you guys a BAD NAME. please help.

I tried to drag and drop PDF files of copies that support my case but this website would not allow.

Hi, @Hzdw9rk5r2 .

Thanks for detailing your experience and sharing your concerns here in our Community Forums.

For context, Shopify is an ecommerce company that many businesses use to create their online store. We don’t run or manage the businesses themselves, which means that we don’t deal with the business’ daily operations on our end. Because of this, typically buyers will need to speak with the store directly for any issues regarding their order.

In saying this, I can absolutely empathize with your experience. It’s disappointing to hear that the seller is refusing to send the products that you ordered from their store. As per our Privacy Policy, Shopify cannot confirm or deny if a store is utlizing our platform. In saying this, if you believe that the store is acting in bad faith and against our Acceptable Use Policy, then you can report the store via our Help Center here. Once we receive the report, the appropriate internal team will investigate the store and take any actions, where necessary.

Due to security and privacy reasons however, our team aren’t able to provide buyers with the outcome of our investigation. So if you’re looking for a solution to potentially help in retrieving your funds, the best way forward is generally to contact your bank or card provider, though it will depend on how you made your purchase.

You mentioned that you’ve been in touch with the Affirm support team, is that correct? Can you confirm if you made your purchase with the store via Shop Pay Installments, or was it directly via Affirm? The reason that I ask is because if a buyer purchased from a store using Shop Pay Installments, the process here would be for them to dispute their purchase with Affirm, instead of their bank or card provider. You can read this guide for more information on this.

For future online purchases, I also highly recommend that you go through this guide, where we cover a few key things to look out for to determine if an online store is trustworthy.
