I made sales exactly 12 days ago and my Shopify balance still says 0

I’m just kind of confused, May 4th I made my very first sale and I was ecstatic. But I have yet to be paid, I connected my bank account and everything so I’m a tad bit confused.

Did you capture the payment on that order? Did you go to Setting-Payments and double check the payout schedule is not monthly? Other than all the payment/payout settings, the first payouts are usually delayed anyway.

Assuming you captured payment right away, have everything set up, with a daily schedule:

Order - May 4

Payout initiated - May 5

First payout hold up to 5 business days - May 12

Bank processing 1-3 days - May 13-15

So you are still right around the normal waiting period for your first order.

Hi @Giorno_Giovanna

This is Vineet from Identixweb, a Shopify Development Agency.

First, check the order itself, not only the Shopify Balance page.

Open the order and confirm the financial status says Paid, not Pending, Authorized, or Unpaid. If it only says authorized, the payment may not have been captured yet. I guess the authorized payments need to be captured before they become payable.

Then go to Finances > Payouts or Settings > Payments > Shopify Payments > View payouts and check whether the payout is pending, scheduled, on hold, or missing.

From what I know, Shopify use business days, so weekends and holidays do not count, and new merchants can sometimes wait longer for the first payout.

If the order is paid but nothing appears in payouts after 12 days, I’d check for any Shopify Payments verification request, account hold, wrong bank details, or payout schedule issue. If there’s a hold, Shopify usually needs extra information before releasing payouts.

Don’t fulfill future orders blindly until you confirm the payment was actually captured and the payout is processing.

I checked, says my payout balance is 0

Since your sale happened on May 4th and it has been more than 10 days, here are the most common reasons why your Shopify Balance or bank account still says $0 and how to fix it:

  • The First Payout Delay: For security and fraud prevention, Shopify applies an intentional 7 to 14-day holding period on the very first sale for all new merchant accounts. Once this initial verification period clears, your payouts will automatically move to a standard 1 to 3 business day schedule.
  • Pending Account Verification: Look closely at the top of your Shopify Admin home page for a yellow alert banner. Shopify often pauses payouts until you upload a piece of documentation (like a government ID or business registration) to fully verify your identity.
  • Check Your Payout Schedule: Go to Settings > Payments, and under the Shopify Payments section, click View Payouts. This page will show you the exact status of your money and the exact estimated bank transfer date. If it says Failed, there is likely a typo in your routing or account number.
