Hello everyone,
My store has been open for 2 months now and I have been active with social media and a couple of paid ads but only get a few visitors a day and no sales. Does my website look uninviting?
Website: Lashjubilation.com
A store owner reports receiving daily visitors over 2 months but zero sales, questioning whether their website appears uninviting.
Key Issues Identified:
Weak Brand Identity: Generic design with default colors and fonts that don’t differentiate from thousands of similar stores. Recommendation to adopt a color palette matching the logo (instead of black) and select custom typography.
Header & Navigation Problems: Menu requires clicking instead of hovering; lacks a visual mega-menu despite having many collections.
Poor Banner Design: Current banner doesn’t grab attention. Suggested to integrate slogan, text, and call-to-action directly into banner imagery rather than below it, as most visitors judge stores within seconds (20-45% bounce rate typical).
Image Quality Issues: Product images are low-quality and misaligned vertically on product pages, which misrepresents product quality and turns off visitors.
Layout Concerns: Insufficient whitespace between product/collection cards creates cluttered UI. Homepage should feature lifestyle images showing products in use, especially for lash collections.
Multiple visual examples provided to illustrate improvements. Store owner acknowledged the feedback and committed to making necessary changes.

Hello @LashJubilation ,
Congrats on your new store! Honestly you are kind of right about the store not being inviting. You can customize the design to be more appealing and convert visitors to buying customers. My suggestions:
1) Brand Identity:
Current design looks too generic with no brand identity except the logo. There are thousands of stores with the same exact colors and layout. By tailoring the brand identity towards your target auidence, your store can stand out and grab attention.
Color palette is crucial part of the brand identity and each color evokes different feeling on visitors. You can start by changing the black primary color to a color fits better to your lash brand. The logo already has nice colors that would align better with your brand:
Typography is another imporant point for design. Instead of using the default font; you can choose two fonts, one for headers and other general that would represent the feeling you’re trying to evoke on visitors.
In addition, you can include more visual elements to serve with texts or include branding assets as a pattern etc. For example you could use something similar to the bottom line of your logo and include below some headings that you wish to highlight.
2) Header & Banner:
Visitors expect sub menu to expand when they hover over instead of clicking. Also, since you have plenty of collections, serving them with a mega menu backed with visuals would look much more appealing. Example:
Banner image represents your product well but it doesn’t look appealing. E-commerce websites bounce rate differs in average from 20% to 45%. Meaning, many users give the judge about an online store in the first few seconds and bounce off.
It is also much better include Slogan + Text + CTA within the banner instead of providing it below the banner that won’t grab attenion. Example banner from donnalashes.com :
If you follow this approach, you can remove the CTA below the banner:
Also, I would suggest delaying and reducing the amount of popups on first load. They all load at same time distracting the visitor from the banner and some customers may find it annoying. For example you can show the 15% discount banner and chat after user starts interacting with your store. It will also help with improving the page speed which is essential for SEO. First thing you should aim is to make sure visitors are hooked at their first visit:
3) Products & Collections:
Unless it’s a design choice for the section, it’s much better to have more whitespace between product and collection cards to have a clean UI. Currently they are too close:
It is much better to serve products with lifestyle images especially for the collections that are placed in homepage. As you currently have them for lashes collections, you could highlight them in your homepage instead of lips:
Some images have really low quality and that’s a turn off for most visitors. The website and quality of images should represent the quality of the product itself. Example:
Images on product page aren’t aligned vertically resulting in a design flaw:
Majority of visitors aren’t inclined to read long texts especially if they are not backed with representative visuals. I would suggest you to include collection banners with shorter texts for a better design:
In general, I would suggest you to include visuals whenever you provide texts in a section to add to the overall design and keep visitors engaged.
4) Newsletter Subscription:
It is great to offer 15% discount on subscription with both popup and footer. However you could design the footer section to be more appealing. Currently It doesn’t grab enough attention. Example:
5) Page Speed Optimization:
Optimizing page speed is important for Technical SEO and improves conversion rate for customers with slow connection on mobile. You can refer to my solution here which applies to your store too: Speed optimization solution Current performance is ~25 which can be improved to ~80:
