I need to find my shopify IP adress for my domain DNS, I live in Australia

Topic summary

Issue: A third‑party domain stopped working; the domain provider requested the Shopify IP to reconnect.

Guidance provided:

  • DNS settings to use:
    • A record → 23.227.38.65 (Host may need to be [email removed]
    • CNAME for “www” → shops.myshopify.com.
  • Remove any other A records for the root domain.
  • Changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate.
  • Steps outlined for updating DNS at the domain registrar; reference link provided.

Latest update: The domain owner applied changes and shared two screenshots (A and B) showing their current DNS records. They asked whether having three records is correct or if one should be removed.

Key details/definitions:

  • DNS (Domain Name System) maps domain names to servers.
  • A record points a domain to an IP address.
  • CNAME creates an alias (e.g., “www” → shops.myshopify.com).

Status: Pending confirmation on whether an extra record should be deleted (per guidance to remove other A records). The poster plans to mark a solution once resolved. Images (screenshots of DNS records) are central to clarifying the configuration.

Hello, Shopify support and community, I have a third party domain with that was working perfectly but now it’s not so I rang my domain provider and they told me I need my Shopify IP address to get reconnected.. I live in Australia.

can someone help me please ASAP?

Hello, @David_8_1 .

For connecting a third party domain to Shopify, you need the following:

To apply the changes:

  • On your domain provider’s website, log in to your account.
  • Find the DNS settings or domain management area.
  • Change the following records:
  • Point the A record to the Shopify IP address 23.227.38.65.
  • If necessary, change the Host name to the [email removed] symbol.
  • Delete any other A records on the domain if there are any present.
  • Point the CNAME record with the name www to shops.myshopify.com.
  • Save your changes.

Please note, after applying these settings it will take up to 48 hours until this domain “points” to your store. You can read more detailed instructions here if needed. Thanks!

Hello Ivy, and thank you for your feedback, I would like to clarify just a couple of things so let me show you two screenshots, screenshot A: and screenshot B: that I have from my domain provider that I have entered from the information provided by you. So my question is are all 3 records correct or do I need to remove one? What’s your advice?

I understand the 48 hours waiting period to complete and if we can complete this task successfully I will come back and mark this thread as a Solution which would be fantastic
