I only offer in-store pickup. How do I charge tax without shipping showing as an option in checkout?

Hi! I am a bakery that only sells through in-store pickup ā€“ no shipping. I need to charge taxes on my products, but when I enable taxes, shipping shows as an option during checkout. I do not want to set my products as service products, because I do want the pickup option the show during checkout ā€“ I need that to be very clear to customers. Help!

You should be able to achieve what you are looking for by removing your shipping rates, but keeping your local pick-up options enabled.

Simply adjust your settings to ensure tax is collected, enable your local pickup, then remove your shipping rates. To remove the rates, head to Settings > Shipping & Delivery > Manage Rates > select the 3 dots next to each rate > delete rate. This will remove any shipping rate from displaying and only show local pickup.

Please note, however, your inventory will need to be tracked to allow local pick-up to display, as the system will need to read that the product is in stock.
