I’ve set a minimum order price of $15 for Shipping & Delivery. However, when I attempt to place an order below $15, I receive the message: ‘Your order cannot be shipped to your selected address. Review your address to ensure it’s correct and try again, or select a different address.’ This message is related to my address, not the price. Is there a way for me to change this message? Do you have any suggestions for a solution?
Topic summary
A merchant configured a $15 minimum order value for shipping but encountered a confusing error message when customers attempted to checkout below this threshold. The system displayed a generic address-related error (“Your order cannot be shipped to your selected address”) rather than clearly communicating the minimum order requirement.
Solution provided:
- Navigate to Shopify Admin > Settings > Online Store > Themes
- Click the ellipsis (…) next to the current theme, select “Edit default theme content”
- Search for “Your order cannot be shipped to the selected address” in the filter box
- Customize the error message to clearly explain the minimum order requirement
- Save changes and test checkout
Important note: This is a generic system error that appears whenever shipping methods cannot be found. If shipping strategies change in the future, the custom message may need updating to remain accurate.
The merchant confirmed the solution worked successfully. An additional suggestion was made to explore the MinCart app for more advanced order limit features including restrictions by product, collection, vendor, quantity, or weight.
Hi, @Sydeahome .
This is a generic error message that the system presents when a shipping method for a specific order on checkout can’t be found from within your store’s shipping settings. You can look at updating this message on your end, however keep in mind that if somewhere down the line you decide to change your store’s shipping strategies, you may need to re-update the message to ensure that it still makes sense for customers that may run into this message.
To update the text of the error message, you’ll need to:
-
Navigate to your Shopify admin > Settings > Online store > Themes.
-
Click on the Ellipsis (…) next to your current theme, then click Edit default theme content.
-
In the Filter items search box, type in Your order cannot be shipped to the selected address.
-
From there, you should see the option to make changes to the error message, where you can update it to your liking.
-
Click Save.
You can then proceed to test your checkout again to ensure that the updated text can be seen.
Amazing it works ! Thank you so much !!
Perfect, glad to hear it @Sydeahome !
