Topic summary

A Shopify store owner has been running for 7 months without any sales despite active social media advertising. The store (ecocampers.co) sells camping/outdoor products but faces multiple optimization issues.

Key Problems Identified:

  • Poor readability: White text on light blue backgrounds creates insufficient contrast, especially on mobile banners
  • Excessive pop-ups: 6 pop-ups appear immediately upon landing, likely increasing bounce rates
  • Navigation issues: Hamburger menu on desktop requires 3 clicks to reach products; collections are poorly organized with many out-of-stock items
  • Trust signals lacking: Uses Gmail instead of professional domain email, missing phone number, unclear business information
  • Product presentation: Images and descriptions resemble AliExpress, making reverse image searches easy for customers to find cheaper alternatives

Recommended Improvements:

  • Implement mega menu for one-click category access
  • Trigger pop-ups based on user behavior (scrolling, cart additions) rather than immediate display
  • Add dark overlay to mobile banners for text readability
  • Create professional email and add complete contact information
  • Revise generic value propositions like “100% customer satisfaction”
  • Consider domain change as ecocampers.com is taken, potentially affecting brand search visibility

The discussion remains open with the store owner yet to respond to the detailed feedback.

Advertising on social media as much as I can, analysts, merchant, tag, pixel, maybe it may be wrong, but everything seems to be OK, just why I didn’t sell

Hi @Ozzy3

Advertising on social media is needed but first, your store has to be fully ready and optimized. And your store is not for me.

I mean there is a lot of good but several things could be improved.

First I do not like the choice of colors, but that could be just me. But what some customers will have issues for sure is white text on that light blue background. The contrast is to low and it is on some parts hard to read.

I do not like your menu, you need to do two clicks to come to collections. And with collections, I think you should organize them better. Most of the products are new products and discounted products. But your main collections just below the hero slider contain just a few products or 8 for Backpack and 6 of them are out of stock plus they are not all backbacks, right?

And I am not too sure of your contact information, that Gmail email does not look too professional, right? You should try to make one from your domain.

And there is no clear business information, no phone. And the address is maybe true. But that all does not give me enough trust in you so I would leave my credit card and my address information.

With products, I have some complaints, like images, product titles, and some long descriptions that all look too much like Aliexpress people now can easily search by image and just leave your site and buy elsewhere.

Good luck and hope sales do pick up.
