I’ve received an email about store deactivation from a Gmail account. Is this a scam email?

I’ve had an email from this address:

shopifylegaldeactivationteam@gmail.com saying my account is at risk of being deactivated and my store requires a mandatory General Market Access Certificate (GMA). I’ve tried to google this and nothing comes up. I’ve logged into my Shopify and looked through all the setting and have no notifications about this possible deactivation in my account. Is this a scam?

Please be aware that Shopify will never contact you using a Gmail address. All official communications from Shopify will come from an email ending in** @Shopify_77 .com**.

If you receive an email from a Gmail or other unofficial domain claiming to be from Shopify, do not engage with it. This is a clear sign of a phishing attempt.

Such emails are often sent by scammers attempting to gain unauthorized access to your store and sensitive business information.

Hey there @savjstudio It most surely is a scam email. A rule of thumb is that any supposed email from Shopify that comes from a “Gmail.com” account is not authentic. Your best option is to always disregard such mails and avoid clicking on any suspicious links in there.

Hi @savjstudio ! Hope you’re well. Shopify will never sends you Emails via @gmail.com domains. it’s surely a scam.
