I want to bring my Woocommerce store to Shopify but keep my Wordpress page (because of ranking) is it possible to keep my store on the same url slug or would I have to change URL’s or would I have to bring my Wordpress over to Shopify completely ? I have many blogs and I don’t want to break all the links by changing the URL to my store. but I also don’t want to loose the ranking we’ve built the past 7 years.
Hi, @Miss79
Thanks for posting. I hope you’re well.
I understand your concern about maintaining your store’s URL slug and not wanting to break any existing links or lose your ranking. While it’s not possible to keep the exact same URL slug when migrating from WooCommerce to Shopify, there are steps you can take to minimize any negative impact on your SEO and ranking.
One option is to set up a redirect from your old WooCommerce store to your new Shopify store. This way, when someone clicks on an old link, they will be automatically redirected to the corresponding page on your new Shopify store. This can help preserve your ranking and ensure a seamless transition for your customers.
To do this, you would need to map your old URLs to the new ones on Shopify and set up 301 redirects. This can be done using Shopify’s native URL redirect feature or through a third-party app like Easy Redirects - 301 Redirects.
Additionally, it’s important to optimize your new Shopify store for SEO by ensuring your page titles, meta descriptions, and content are relevant and keyword-rich. This will help search engines understand the content of your pages and improve your chances of maintaining or even improving your ranking.
As for your WordPress blog, you can keep it separate from your Shopify store and continue using it for content marketing purposes. You can link to your Shopify store via the Buy Button from your WordPress blog to drive traffic and sales.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions or if there’s anything else I can assist you with.
