If AI could take one problem off your plate tomorrow, what would it be? And would it be worth paying for?

Curious about something. There is a lot of talk here about what AI can do in a store, and less about what merchants actually want it to do.

So, simple question. If you could hand one thing over tomorrow and never think about it again, what would it be? The tedious thing, the thing you keep putting off, the thing you end up doing at 11pm on a Sunday because it never fits into the week. The more specific the better, since “marketing” is hard to help with but “rewriting supplier titles into something readable” is not.

And a second, gentler part, only if you feel like answering it. Is that thing worth money to you, or is it just mildly annoying? Some jobs are irritating but you would never pay to remove them, and honestly that is useful to know too. If it is worth paying for, a rough sense is plenty. Something you would pay a few dollars a month for, or something where you would happily pay real money because it is currently costing you hours or sales.

No pitch here and nothing to sign up for. I build in this space and I would rather hear what people actually want than guess at it, and I suspect a few other builders reading this would too. I will keep an eye on the thread and share back anything useful that comes out of it.

I will start. The one I keep hearing, and would pay for myself, is catalog cleanup. Titles, tags and missing fields drifting across a few hundred products, with no easy way to fix them in bulk without breaking something.

Good question, and agreed that catalog cleanup is the one everyone quietly hates.

Mine would be more specific: deciding what actually goes together. We manage offers for a lot of stores, and the tedious part isn’t building the offer, it’s the 11pm Sunday job of digging through order history to work out which products genuinely get bought together, which pairings are just coincidence, and which discount level doesn’t quietly eat the margin. Everyone ends up guessing and then leaving it live for six months.

Would I pay? Yes, real money, because that one is directly tied to revenue rather than tidiness. Catalog cleanup I’d pay a few dollars a month for. Something that told me “these three products convert together, at this discount, here’s the actual margin impact” I’d pay properly for.

For context we build Sleek Bundles at Ecom Swift LLC, so we see the setup side of this constantly. The mechanics of bundles and upsells are solved. The judgement call about what to pair and at what price is still very manual, and that’s the bit I’d hand over tomorrow.

Hey @Rahul-FoundGPT ,

For me, it would be ongoing catalog maintenance, rather than generating content from scratch.

As products change over time, keeping titles, descriptions, metafields, image alt text, SEO fields, categories, and tags consistent across hundreds of products quickly becomes a repetitive task. An AI that could detect inconsistencies, suggest improvements and let me review and approve changes before publishing would save a significant amount of time.

I’d also find value in AI proactively flagging things like missing images, broken internal links, duplicate content, inconsistent product tags, or incomplete product data instead of waiting for me to discover them manually.

That’s something I’d be willing to pay for, provided it’s reliable and gives me full control over what gets changed. Saving a few hours every month while reducing manual errors would easily justify a subscription for many merchants.

If you found my reply helpful, feel free to mark it as the accepted solution so it can help other merchants following this discussion.

Thank You !
