Image URL Format - Files vs Products

Hi, I am currently utilising the free trial to try and determine whether I should migrate my online store to the Shopify platform. When considering how to go about documenting and uploading a list of redirects I have come across an issue with Image url formats. I was under the impression that product image urls would be generated with the structure cdn/shop/products/exampleproduct.

I have uploaded some test products via a CSV file which included the image URLs. For one of the test products, I have also gone into the product from the admin page and uploaded a new image manually.

All product images are generating cdn/shop/files urls instead of cdn/shop/products urls. I am seeing this by ‘previewing’ my site and opening product images in new tabs.

I have gone back and forth with Support who struggled to even understand what I was talking about and they have given me contradictory information.

Can anyone explain why the product image urls are being formatted like this? Is it because my site is not live yet and the urls will actually display the /products format when it is launched? Or is it something I am missing?

I want to start creating spreadsheets with redirects to the new image urls but I need to know what these urls will actually be!

On a side note, am I missing something in regards the chat support? I have had 2 chats during my free trial and they were extremely hard work. The support staff did not seem to have even basic knowledge of the tech side of things. I am still deciding whether to migrate to Shopify and it is really concerning me that the support is lacking. It worries me that if I migrate and have some serious issues, I will not be able to access the support I need. Does Shopify not have a technical team? Or was it a rookie error contacting them on a Sunday? Or is it because I am not yet a paying customer? The last chat I had, the advisor ended it herself mid conversation as she didn’t have an answer for me!

Thanks for your time.
