I’ve created a URL product metafield to populate videos on a template but when I search for the metafield on the template it doesn’t show. I am using the Enterprise theme.
Ideally I want to create a product metafield where I can attach an associated video to the product. Then populate this video on templates via the dynamic source. As mentioned I’ve been using the URL metafield. What am I doing wrong? How can I populate videos in this way without coding?
Make sure the metafield is populated with a video URL (Youtube, Vimeao or whatever).
then
Using Dynamic Source (Shopify Online Store 2.0 theme):
- In the Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes > Customize.
- Navigate to the product template you’re working on.
- Look for an option to add a section, block, or dynamic content.
- Click on the section or block where you’d like to display the video.
- For the Video URL, use the dynamic source to link the metafield to that block/section. There should be an option to select the “Metafield” type, and you can choose the specific metafield you created for the product video.
Your metafield type should be set to “URL” and not “File” (which is for direct file uploads).
Thank you for your response. Yes, that is how I created the URL metafield. The problem is when I go to the template to try and populate the video by attaching the dynamic source, I look for my URL metafield but it is not there.
Thank you. I did that before but thought the video wasn’t populating because there was no cover image.
It’s working. Thanks again.
