Images are showing up not in full resolution

Topic summary

A store owner is experiencing image quality degradation when uploading product photos to showcase planner interiors. Despite attempting various solutions—compressing files, resizing, and changing formats—the images appear low-resolution at standard 100% zoom, though they display properly when zoomed in.

Key observations:

  • Original high-resolution images (5184x3888) are being downscaled significantly (2044x1154) on the storefront
  • Important product details are lost at normal viewing size
  • Images include visual comparisons showing the quality difference between original and displayed versions

Suggested direction:
One respondent recommends adjusting store design settings and implementing product image magnification features to address the display issue.

The discussion remains open with no definitive solution provided yet.

On my store we are trying to show the insides of our planner product. For some reason the image I upload loses some resolution and is missing important details for our product. Ive tried to compress the images, resize them, and change formats to see if that was the issue but even with all those different variations the image still shows up missing resolution.

When I zoom in (on the shopify store) the resolution shows up but if its at a standard 100% zoom it looks awful.

Any ideas on how to fix this or why its happening?

I added below a photo of the original file I’m uploading and the final outcome when its on shopify to see the difference.
