I would like to block access to the website to be available only to those who register for an account.
When you access the website, a prompt asking to log in should appear, and after logging in, website should be accessible.
Is there anyway to implement this?

I think it will take a few steps and use a third-party app to achieve the functionality you want. You can see how I guide below:
Step 1: To set the accounts, go to the Shopify Admin → Open “Settings”.
Step 2: Click on the ‘Customer accounts’ → ‘Edit’:
Step 3: Turn on options "Show login link in the header of online store and at checkout" and “Classic customer accounts”
I’m thinking a lock style feature app from the Shopify app store could be something to look into for this. The concept being you can restrict access for anyone who isn’t registered or logged in via the system set up by the app. There are four apps I really like for this which you can see below:

If you haven’t already found a solution, I would second the recommendation for using the Locksmith app, which allows you to lock the site or certain parts until a condition such as being logged in has been met.
