Implementing subscriptions in Turkiye

Hello there,

My store is based on Turkiye and from what i understand the subscriptions(recurring orders) are only available within certain payment methods. Supported gateways for subscriptions:

  • Shopify Payments

  • PayPal Express

  • Authorize.net

  • Adyen

  • Stripe (availability varies by region/eligibility)

None of the payment methods above are available in Turkiye but Adyen. The problem with Adyen payment is that they only accept Plus stores. When i search about the topic i see tickets from 2021 so this is at least a 5 year old problem that Turkish stores have. We have another company as a USA branch for marketplace orders but even if I open an stripe or shopify payments account from that company, I still need to change the currency and country settings of my store to enable subscriptions. How can we solve this problem because we cannot charge recurring payments. I know that Shopify cares for bottlenecks like this so we are waiting for your action to create a viable path to enable subscriptions for TR stores.

My customers are mainly in Turkiye but we plan to increase the budget on international ads for second quarter, I think using alternative recurring billing flows will be the path for us. Thank you for detailed explanation of the issue

But that makes a lot of sense — especially if you’re planning to scale internationally.

One thing to keep in mind with alternative recurring flows is how they interact with international payments. As you start running ads outside Türkiye, you may notice differences in:

• approval rates depending on the payment method
• conversion impact if customers are redirected
• and how recurring billing behaves across currencies

In setups like yours, the challenge usually isn’t just enabling subscriptions, but making sure the payment flow still performs well as you expand into new markets.

It’ll be interesting to see how your international traffic behaves once you start scaling.

If you have a Stripe account you can use third party Shopify Stripe Checkout and Subscription solutions.
