An error started appearing in Google Merchant Centre.
The required value [certification] may be missing
Topic summary
Main issue: Google Merchant Center flags an error saying “Required value [certification] may be missing.”
Context/interpretation: A respondent notes the only relevant attribute resembling “certification” is Google’s energy-efficiency attribute for EU products (per the provided Google support link). This typically applies to items requiring an energy label in the EU.
Recent update: The merchant has added the suggested attribute on their site (per screenshots) but the error still appears in GMC. They ask whether this error could lead to account blocking and whether they should trigger a recheck for the product.
Evidence provided: A product example (solar lamp) URL and screenshots were shared. The images/screenshots are central, but no confirmation yet that GMC has re-fetched the feed or accepted the attribute.
Open questions/next steps:
- Does this product require an EU energy label attribute in GMC, and is the attribute implemented in the correct field/feed format?
- Should the merchant click “recheck” or force a feed re-fetch/review?
- What is the risk level (if any) of account suspension for this specific attribute error?
Status: Unresolved; awaiting guidance or confirmation on correct attribute usage and re-review steps.
Can you share a screenshot please.
The only attribute that is related to certification is this: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/13528839
Which is for energy efficiancy products in EU.
You may be right. I have already placed this attribute on the site see picture. But the error has not disappeared. Can this error be the reason for blocking google merchat centr account? Should i click on the button to recheck this product?
