Incorrect business name when searching Google

Topic summary

A business owner rebranded from “Lotus Massage Chairs” to “LuxeWell Life” several months ago (late April), but Google search results still display the old name.

Initial troubleshooting steps identified:

  • Update business name in Shopify’s Online Store → Preferences (appears three times on homepage)
  • Update store details in Settings → General
  • Wait for Google to re-crawl the site after changes (may take days/weeks)

Additional areas requiring updates:

  • Google Ads (including sitelinks visible in search results)
  • Google Business listing
  • Google Merchant Center

Current status: The discussion remains open with the suggestion to either update all Google properties manually or hire a Google partner/expert who can access all accounts and make the necessary changes across platforms. The delay between making changes and seeing updated search results is normal but can be lengthy.

I changed the name of my business from Lotus Massage Chairs to LuxeWell Life a few months ago. However, when I search the business name on google or safari, the old name comes up. Where is it pulling this info from and how do I update it? See pics attached for reference. Thanks!

Hi,

On your existing homepage Lotus Massage is being used thrice. You can go to Online Store → Preferences and check the top part of the page that opens.

Also, please go to Settings → General and check store details on the right. Once you make these changes, next time Google will crawl your store it will be updated but it may take some time, be it days/weeks.

Thanks. I changed the business name in both of those areas in probably mid
to late April of this year. Could it take that long to change?

Hi,

Are you running Google ads ? Google Business listing, Google Merchant ? This change needs to be done at all places.

We can see sitelinks in the screenshot you have shared, so you need to change that aswell from the Google ads link. If you are still not able to fix this, you can hire a partner/expert, it should be a pretty straight forward fix, they would require access to all your Google accounts and will be able to edit it out for you.
