Increasing Shopify variant limit in development store

We want to increase the Shopify variant limit without using a 3rd party app. It looks like the only option is creating a dev store. So, how can we implement it in a store already live if we do that?

Increasing the variant limit is only available on test stores ATM

Thank you so we cannot use that feature in live stores. We have to wait then.

Am not sure what you mean by “Live stores” - we have not started rolling this out to merchants
