Has anyone done Marketplace integrations with stores like Macys, Wayfair, Faire, Zulily? Looks like only option is for paid monthly app subscriptions but I cannot find a single article on the world wide web about anyone’s experiences connecting Shopify to any of these stores or selling their Shopify products on these stores

Getting intergrated with marketplaces takes a lot of work an effort, that’s why there are shopify apps charging monthly fee for it (like my shopify app) we make sure the API connections to the different marketplaces work as expected, and you can focus on handling the orders that come in 
Depending on the number of marketplaces you connect with, our marketplace order connector is priced very competitive. so if you get a few orders per month it will already earn itself back.
we are currently running a beta with faire intergration, and offer amazon / walmart dsv & bol.com intergrations in the app.

We are currently in the process of getting our shopify app reviewed, it’s called Order Related Documents.
it will allow you to create a packing slip, product ingredient document (or any other document) and link it to a country or a product. (it also allows for uploading an existing pdf and linking it to a product)

I integrate with marketplaces through Mirakl Connect. It’s easier to have all the marketplaces on one dashboard and I’ve connected with Bed Bath & Beyond, Catch, Belk, The Bay… Tons of options internationally.

To adress your point of not paying 250 per month, then we at https://sellintu.com/ are building integrations to marketplaces where you pay from 1 dollar and down (as volume increases) per order automated from Macy (mirakl ecosystem), faire and others. In other words, it is pay as you go, so if you only get 1 order a month from a channel, it is relatively low cost to get started with.
