International domains on Shopify Markets // can't enable traditional AND simplified Chinese

Hi

I’m trying to configure a primary domain in Shopify Markets to enable English (en), Traditional Chinese (zh-tw) AND Simplified Chinese (zh-cn).

However, I can only enable English and either one version of Chinese - not both.

I’m not sure what’s the logic behind this (and it used to work before Markets).

Is there a trick to make it work or is this just a bug?

Cheers

Thorsten

Do you fixed the problem?

Hi - Rich from the Markets product team here. This is a known limitation that is being fixed. The reason for it happening is the clash with the markets subfolder format: example.com/{language ISO code}-{country ISO code}/ but we are looking at a solution - accelerated by your feedback, so thank you.

Hi Richbrown, may I ask any progress right now?

Hey @casparsac work is ongoing, aiming to be completed this year, I’ll also post here once the feature is launched.

Thanks @richbrown_staff . Actually I can add Traditional AND Simplified Chinese on Market- China. However, I cannot add Traditional AND Simplified Chinese on Hong Kong SAR where is my primary market. May I know is this included in the coming fix?

Hey @casparsac - yes that would be made possible. I’m intrigued that you managed to add them to China, I just tried and got this error:

When trying to add both to a China market. Nonetheless, it won’t be a problem very soon. Thanks

Any updates? @richbrown_staff

Pleased to say this has been rolled out to 100% today. Add the Chinese that you don’t currently have, and you’ll then be able to add both to a market using the new URL structure.
