## AI-generated summary

A user is trying to update a customer's `multipass_identifier` field in Shopify. Support suggested using the Customer API to update customer details by removing the multipass_identifier. However, the user discovered that the `multipass_identifier` field appears to be **read-only**, preventing direct updates through the API. The issue remains unresolved, with no clear workaround provided for modifying this field.

How to update customer multipass\_identifier?
I reached out to support and they mention to use:

**Update the Customer:** You can use the Customer API **[here](https://shopify.dev/docs/api/admin-rest/2023-01/resources/customer#put-customers-customer-id)** to update the customer’s details by removing the multipass\_identifier.

However, it seems to be a read-only field.
