Inventory Management: Shopify + Apps or 3rd Party Software

Hello!

I recently joined a streetwear retailer and its fairly obvious that our e-commerce process and tools were cobbled together as stop gaps.

I am looking for advice and potential solutions/software stacks that others use.

We carry product from other companies, both in a physical store and online. We use our single physical location as our warehouse and ship all ecom orders from there. The majority, like 95%, of what we sell comes from other brands (Nike, Adidas, New Era, etc.)

We currently run all inventory-related activities (POs, receiving, reconciliation, COGS, etc.) in Heartland as our ERP and use Springboard retail to connect to Shopify. This has proven to not work and lead to multiple instances of miscounted inventory and overselling, both due to the Springboard connection and the way Heartland is set up.

Can anyone advise on how (and what software/platforms) they manage the receiving and processing of inventory when it relates to multiple POs and vendors? We are in the initial stages of working with Shopify to migrate over to the platform + integrate Stocky, but we are continuing to hear that maintaining an ERP is crucial.

Thanks!

Are you looking to move all your software stack away from Heartland?
I guess in your case you need a retail focused ERP something like Brightpearl.

In our case because we do manufacturing as well we use katanamrp.com as our ERP which integrates well with Shopify. It handles multiple PO’s and vendors etc as you mention but has manufacturing at its heart.

In your case maybe you’d want to be focusing on finding a retail first ERP that integrates with shopify and go from there. Maybe something from this list?

Hi there,

I think an order management system such as Orderbot would be a perfect fit for what you’re looking for.

I’d also be happy to offer some insight as to whether maintaining the ERP is a must based on your current business processes, size, complexity, etc.

Check us out at www.orderbot.com
