IPv6 for purchase events errors in Facebook events manager

Events manager in Facebook is showing errors on all events from Shopify
I am connected to Facebook from Shopify using the Facebook App!
The error is
"Change IPv4 addresses for Purchase events to IPv6 and send them to Conversions API "

‘How to fix’ is to contact the developer with the info in the screenshot…
but the developer of the app is Facebook!?

Erm..

You’re not the only one. I have reached out to both Meta and Shopify. Meta has told me to reach out to Shopify and Shopify told me to reach out to Meta. Both have been no help.

Yep. Standard. And we’re stuck in the middle.

Meta’s fix solution is to make changes on the server which we don’t have access to. Shopify is the only that can do it but when I told them this they told me it’s probably an app or custom code work that I had done which makes no sense. Meta is saying the fix has to do with making changes to the server which would have no relation to an app or custom code.

Such rubbish isn’t it. No custom changes to anything my end.

They just blame it on each other.. that seems to be the required skill in support these days.

Have you reached out to Shopify and Meta? Same responses?

having this issue too. guess we have to wait on shopify to make a dev update to their FB integration…

yep

The last time I spoke to them was yesterday and they think it’s a Facebook issue and not a Shopify issue.

its called ping pong support.

Its a Shopify issue since Shopify doesnt support IPv6

Experiencing this same issue. Shopify are referring me to Meta (as they are technically the developer of the app).

Meta support keep referring me back to our developers (which I’ve stated many times is Meta).

All in all, completely incompetent support from both Shopify and Meta.

Meta made it pretty clear to me that it’s a Shopify issue. At first, they both blamed each other until I had overwhelming proof it was Shopify. Shopify seems to be actually looking into it. Meta’s fix clearly states that changes need to be made with the Shopify servers which only Shopify can do. I still am doubtful that Shopify will fix it.

I have a few questions but I don’t believe it would have any effect on the current issue?

  1. Have you made any changes to your current theme in the past week?

  2. Have you download any new apps? If so which apps?

  3. Did you automatically upgraded to "Checkout on Facebook and Instagram? on Oct 26, 2023. You can check this by going to Sales Channel > Facebook > It will be a green box when you first open it if you were.

I’m in the UK. Checkout on FB and IG not available here anyway… so No.

Okay, well that narrows down any of those.

As of 10/31/23, they hid the error message in the event manager but they still exist. How do I know this? because that’s what they told me. At least that’s how I understood it. You can actually still see the error even after they hid it. It’s just in a different spot. Event Manager > Overview > Click on the event name (Example “Purchase”) > Click “View Details” > Hover over the “I” just below event Match Quality.

The warning seems to have disappeared from my Facebook events manager. Looks like someone has tweaked something behind the scenes? Either at FB or Shopify…

Shopify support said this;
A warning may appear in the Meta Events Manager requesting that merchants send IPv6 addresses for certain events or change IPv4 addresses to IPv6 for certain events…
However, Shopify does not currently support IPv6…
Our team is working on providing support for IPv6.
