Hello @keblezhu Thanks for reaching out to Shopify community with your concern. Yes, definitely it is becoming common to use AI-generated images which featuring your product. Not only in specified categories but most categories are using that strategy. Especially the new stores that are testing their product in the market.
Totally agree with your opinion! AI fashion photography is definitely the trend for lingerie & swimwear Shopify brands. Our team provides professional AI commercial shooting service for apparel stores: only need flat garment shots, we can generate diverse model images, advertising variants & Pinterest marketing visuals, which cuts down 70% of traditional studio & model costs, and greatly speeds up your product launch progress. Yeah, we’re seeing the same shift - lingerie and swimwear especially, because those shoots are the most expensive and hardest to reschedule.
A few things that seem to separate the stores doing it well from the ones getting weird results:
Consistency of the model across a whole collection is the real challenge, not generating a single nice image.
Fabric/lace detail and skin tones are where most tools still struggle - worth zooming in before you commit.
Platforms (Meta/Pinterest) are getting stricter about AI disclosure for apparel, so keep that in mind for ads.
Full disclosure: I actually build a tool in this exact space (AI lingerie/fashion photography), so I’m biased - happy to share what we’ve learned about keeping models consistent if that’s useful to anyone here.
