The conversation explores whether AI will fundamentally transform personalized ecommerce shopping apps or remain a temporary trend. Participants generally agree AI is reshaping the industry, not just a passing fad.
Key AI applications discussed:
Product recommendations based on browsing/purchase history
Voice search and chatbots for customer support
Predictive analytics for inventory and dynamic pricing
AI-powered abandoned cart recovery via voice calls
Main benefits identified:
Improved product discovery and user engagement
24/7 automated support reducing human workload
Sentiment analysis to understand customer behavior beyond basic metrics
Challenges highlighted:
Data privacy concerns and compliance requirements
Integration complexity for resource-limited small businesses
Risk of over-personalization feeling intrusive
Accessibility for small businesses:
Consensus suggests AI tools (Shopify apps, ChatGPT APIs, Klaviyo) are increasingly affordable and accessible, not just for large enterprises. One participant notes OpenAI’s instant checkout feature may help small businesses compete against Google’s SEO/SEA dominance by enabling direct purchases within ChatGPT.
Several participants shared specific tools and apps they’re testing, including AI voice agents and shopping rank trackers for LLM visibility. The discussion remains open with ongoing experimentation.

With the rapid growth of ecommerce app development, businesses are constantly seeking new ways to deliver personalized and seamless shopping experiences. Artificial Intelligence is playing a major role here—whether through product recommendations, voice search, chatbots, or predictive analytics. But the big question is: Will AI truly shape the future of personalized ecommerce shopping apps, or is it just a passing trend?
I’d love to hear your thoughts:
Do you believe AI can significantly improve user experience in ecommerce apps?
What challenges or risks do you see in adopting AI at scale?
Could smaller businesses also benefit, or is it mainly for big players?
Hey folks Just came across this Shopify app called Deadass Agent.
It uses AI voice calls to follow up on abandoned carts, answer product questions, and even give order updates.
Super easy to set up, free plan to try it out, and scales if you need more.
Might be worth testing if you’re losing sales at checkout
Hi @aartijangid . We used AI here https://luonkos.com/, and based on our data, users were quite happy with exactly what you’re mentioning as “personalized ecommerce shopping”. The reason was 1- nobody talk with support team about product recommendation, and 2- search funnel and read product descriptions is too hard. I should mention that for support tasks, users are still happy to directly talk to support team or seller.
I believe, we still have a long way to go with AI, but it definitely will reshape how ecommerce and shopping in general. Maybe not in the waymost people are expecting currently but who knows, with the fast paced developments, we might see something totally new very soon.
For now, I think voice search for product recommendations, customer support in general, is the best upgrade we can ask for. Second to that would be AI + ML-based analytics. Basically understanding more than heat maps and understanding the core “why” behind the sentiment and decisions of the user.
Both options can drastically help with cart abandonment, bounce rates and so on. Voice AI can give instant support whereas AI + ML based sentiment analysis can be more of a long term play.
Absolutely — AI isn’t just a passing trend; it’s fundamentally reshaping ecommerce, especially in the app ecosystem.
Here’s my quick take:
How AI is truly improving ecommerce UX
Personalized recommendations: AI-driven suggestions based on browsing, purchase history, and behavior patterns increase engagement and conversions.
Smart search & voice assistants: NLP and visual search improve discovery and make shopping intuitive.
Chatbots & automation: 24/7 customer support, instant order tracking, and guided selling — all reducing human workload.
Dynamic pricing & predictive analytics: AI helps forecast demand, optimize prices, and manage stock smarter.
Challenges
Data privacy: Handling large user datasets requires strong compliance and trust.
Integration complexity: Many small stores lack resources to integrate AI tools efficiently.
Over-personalization risk: Too much automation can feel impersonal or intrusive.
For small businesses
Absolutely — AI is no longer exclusive to big brands. Platforms like Shopify, Klaviyo, and ChatGPT APIs now make it easier for smaller stores to use AI for recommendations, SEO, and support — often with free or low-cost tools.
So yes — AI is the future of ecommerce, and the real winners will be those who blend automation with a human touch.

Chiming in here quite late, but I do believe AI will be beneficial for small businesses or actually save small businesses from Google’s monopoly on SEA/SEO.
People are already researching for products in LLMs. A few weeks ago OpenAI launched instant checkout which will enable customers to buy products from Shopify and Etsy directly in the ChatGPT app (no re-direct - provide card details and buy it right there and then). I think it’s a matter of time till they get they the user experience right and more people start shopping only with LLMs.
We’ve tried a few tools for AI search shopping discovery and most of them are great for general purpose AI search, but there is not much specifically for AI shopping and recommendations. We’ve signed up for this: https://www.shopranktracker.com/ and waiting for access. Hopefully this could help us get recommended more in ChatGPT and give us a few pointers on how to improve our shop so we’re seen.
Well, it’s obvious, that AI is changing ecommerce personalization in multiple ways; AI-powered chatbots and recommendations are just some examples. My team reviewed the full spectrum of cases in the article about AI in ecommerce personalization. So apps and services adopt AI since without it they’re not competitive. And this trend will going further because LLMs will only become more powerful given how much money companies invest in AI development and data centers. Regarding AI adoption, you need to understand which exactly pain point you’re going to handle with AI and calculate your future ROI before investing.
