I am developing a website for a legal cannabis cultivator website in the US. I understand why the credit card processing feature isn’t allowed for this product. However, is it ok to use the shopify platform with a password protected shopping area that only allows COD payments?

It is possible to sell Cannabis goods using Shopify, and you can even do this using a payment gateway if you wish! I have an excellent guide for selling CBD in the USA here.
Shopify Payments is not available for hemp or CBD products at this time. However, Shopify has partnered with third-party payment gateways that support the sale of certain hemp and/or hemp-derived CBD products. The requirements for approval may vary for each gateway.
