Is content truly king in Shopify product descriptions?

Hi. I’m new to Shopify and my experience is with WordPress. The product I set out to create a store for at Shopify isn’t that stylish, and while I have professional photographs, part of the tried-and-true sales pitch incorporates content. That is, communicating why it’s needed and how it addresses those needs.

I believe in succinct messaging and visual storytelling, but little blurbs of text or walls or text are both too little and too much, and I can’t see how to get in-between with Shopify.

I’ve explored several themes, both free and premium, and can’t find anything that allows me to create written content like I can in WordPress. What I mean by that is content with multiple headings, text wrapped around images, with page elements (e.g., larger full width images, tables, accordions, testimonials) breaking up the wall of text.

The maxim, “content is king” doesn’t seem true on Shopify. I need to be able to educate visitors a bit more than someone selling clothing or home decor items, and I can’t see how that’s done. Am I missing something? I can’t find any examples either.

Thank you for any suggestions you have.
