Is enabling inventory tracking impacting Google Merchant listings?

Hello Shopify Community,

My question is concerning inventory tracking. When using suppliers like Printify, is it necessary to enable inventory tracking for all products including variants on all products pages? In other words, will this have an impact on free listings in Google Merchant? My reason for this question is because all my products are disapproved due to violations in Google’s shopping ads and I am having difficulties trying to figure out why. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! My next step will have to be to hire a Google expert. Please help!

Google requires all items to be stocked. And Google also require you to keep track of stock.

That means most POD are not allowed on Google Shopping.

Hi Emmanuel,

As always, thanks for your valuable input and expert advice. So, my next question is since my business is strictly dropshipping and my products cannot be listed on Google, what are my options for driving sales to my website? I have spent money hiring a shopify expert to design my website. Any advice you have will be greatly appreciated.

You can use Google Ads text, display and video. The previous policies do not apply to these.

Thanks for all your help! I appreciate your expertise in helping me to find
a solution to my google problems.

Hey Emmanuel,

Hope all is well.

I’m trying to get clarification. For example Printful gives an inventory feed to my site, and it gives an inventory qty.

Wouldn’t that be considered keeping track of stock?

Secondly, I saw what you said regarding Google. “You can use Google Ads text, display and video”. What does that mean exactly? I just can’t use Google Shopping? I’ll still come up on standard Google search, and what methods of ads does Google allow?

Sorry for all the questions but it seems like you really know your stuff.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Michael

If printify keeps stock of the finished final product, that is allowed. However from my understanding printify is POD, which violates: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/6150127#:~:text=Unavailable%20promotions

Nothing you do will change the fundamental requirement. The product, in it’s final state, must be stocked.

Yes you can use other networks in Google Ads, such as text, display, video, demand gen, but not shopping.
