Is it okay to personalize the wording in my privacy and refund policy?

Hi there,

I’ve changed some of the wording in my Privacy and Refund policy. As I’m a sole trader (only me), I’ve changed references to, for example, ‘our store’ to ‘my store’.

I was wondering, is this okay to do and does it, in any way, invalidate the policy by my having done that?

Just wondering if I need to change everything back or not.

Hi @memax ,

You can absolutely add or generate policies for your store. The policies generated by Shopify are generic, so you can totally make edits to them to reflect your own circumstances and position - it wouldn’t affect them visually in any way.

In terms of what impact those edits might have legally (and I suspect that is your main concern), you may want to doublecheck with a law expert to ensure that you are within the boundaries of the law in your country or state. However, a change from “our store” to “my store” seems pretty insignificant really.

Bear in mind that you can share your policies on social media if need be and you can also create custom pages if you feel you need to clarify anything further.
