I wanted to know if it is possible to add just one product variant to a product collection. I have a handbag brand and want to create a Best Sellers collection and I only want to show the best seller of a model X is in Green color. Is it posible to do that? Or shoud I create a variant as a product? Is it better to create variants as products or to mantain a variant as a variant of a product?
If I create as much products as variants, can I then add a color tag to the product page that takes me from one variant (now as product) to another?
Sorry it’s a bit a mess I don’t now if I explained myself clearly.
I think the choice is totally up to you in terms of keeping your product variants contained within one product or segregating them out into their own unique products. Each has its own benefits.
For example, let’s say you don’t sell that many products and each product offer several variants. In this case, it actually makes sense to break them out so that your store catalog feels fuller and it also gives your customer quick access to seeing all the variations at a glance.
On the flip side, if your store sells hundreds of products, each with several variants. It may be best to leave the products and their variants contained within each product.
To answer your best seller question, the first option would allow you to do this, which is to display the exact variant of the best-selling product in your ‘best sellers’ collection.

Thank you so much for your help Dirk. I have another question: imagine I create products as variants. I have 1 bag in 5 different colors and I create 5 different products. Is it possible in this product page to create a variant button for example the color that redirects to the other variant product page? I want to create a page per variant because I only have 5 different products but in 5 colors each. The thing is that I’m afraid that in the product page I won’t be able to show the color variant option. You know what I mean?
This could be accomplished but it would require custom coding on your end to achieve this.
I’m not formally trained in code to provide you with an exact solution. However, I’m confident one of our Shopify experts would be able to accomplish this at a reasonable price.
