Is it possible to end my yearly subscription earlier

Hi! Will like to check if I’m able to stop my yearly subscription ? will i be able to get back the extra cost that i paid for when i stop the subscription before 1 year ends ?

As per Shopify’s Term of Service, they won’t issue a refund if you cancel your subscription but you could reach out to the Shopify support team to discuss the refund.

You could refer to this link, log in to your store account then type in a topic in the search bar and select Search. On the following page, scroll down to Get Support and click Continue and you’ll be presented with options to contact their Support via chat, email, or schedule a call-back.

I believe you can pause your store. Pausing your store allows you to temporarily stop selling and pay a reduced subscription fee without deactivating your account. You can also explore the Pause and Build plan that Shopify provides to pause your account but continue to build on it. However, deactivating your store would essentially allow you to stop subscription payments and close your account for an indefinite period of time.

Please note that Shopify will retain your store’s data and configuration for about 2 years, so if you change your mind, you can reactivate your account within that period. However, when you close your store, you’ll be unable to create a new one with the same name or .myshopify URL.

To answer your question, no, you may not be able to receive a refund even if you cancel your plan partway through.

Here are the main things you need to remember for a hassle-free cancellation process:

  • You can’t close your store if you have any outstanding bills.

  • You immediately lose access to your admin panel, so make sure you disconnect or transfer any domains away before closing your account.

  • You should uninstall apps before closing your store to avoid extra charges, especially if you installed those apps manually.

Thanks for connecting with us here. I am sorry to hear that you wish to cancel your subscription, before discussing that further, may I ask as to why you might want to do this? We hate to see our merchants go and love to help them out, so let me know if there is anything I can help with?

As mentioned by @AvadaCommerce as per our Terms of Service here, section 4 point 10, we do not offer refunds. We consider merchants who are signing up for long term plans to be making a commitment to Shopify. This gets you a discount on your plan and also allows you to take advantage of our annual plan promotions. In the first 30 days, we may allow refunds and plan changes as goodwill gestures for those who happen to change their mind - a sort of cooling-off period. However, after the first 30 days, we consider it well into the start of an annual billing cycle. When you enter into a long term subscription with Shopify, you are committing to being in that plan for the time period.

If you fit the above criteria, then our billing team may be able to help, although this is no guarantee. In this case, as we cannot look into account specifics from here, I would suggest you reach out to our live support team here at this link, so they can take a look at this in more depth for you.

In addition to that, you also have the option to Pause your plan as noted by @MarmetoCare . When you choose the Pause and Build plan, your store continues to run at a lowered cost of $9 USD per month. You still have access to your Shopify admin and can edit your products when you need to, but your checkout is disabled, so customers cannot check out. Hello Maz. I want cancel my yearly subscription. I transferred the store to the client from my account but forgot to remove my card and I was billed $228. I was wondering if I can get a refund since it is withing 30 days.
