Is it possible to import email lists into an online store?

Hi, I’m considering opening a Shopify store, but I cannot find the full answer to my question anywhere.

Can I import an email list into Shopify? The only info I saw online was that one could import a customer list, but that’s not exactly my question. Further…

If email lists CAN be imported, does it matter via which provider (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, etc)?

If it helps, my goal is to create a landing page in ConvertKit, which can be used to amass a targeted group of interested parties in my future Shopify store. Upon launch, I would then like to import this list into Shopify, giving me a good leg up when I open.

Possible?

I realize there might be other ways of doing this all through Shopify, but since I’m so new to the platform, I would MUCH rather go through ConvertKit, which I’m very proficient with.

Yes. You can import email lists to Shopify. And it doesn’t matter via which provider.

Importing your email subscribers is completed through your Shopify admin’s Customers tab. Imports need to use Shopify’s customer import template. You can learn more here importing exporting customer lists from Shopify.

You should pay careful attention to setting the correct value for the “Accepts Marketing” column, as only your good, cleaned contacts should have the “yes” value in that column. And you should tag these customers when you import them to track their source and be able to send them more relevant contacts.
