I need my customers to provide me with special instructions on their orders. I already have the special instructions note box enabled for checkout but how can I make it required to fill out before they can checkout? I wan’t this option so they don’t accidentally forget. Thank you!

Are you referring to the order instructions note that shows up on your cart page before the customer clicks checkout?
Natively in Shopify, there isn’t a toggled setting to make this required. Alternatively, you can edit the label where it says “Order special instructions”. For example you could have it say “REQUIRED - Please Fill in the following notes” to notify the customer it has to be filled out.

I did already add “*REQUIRED” next to where it says “order special instructions”. I just wish there was a way to make it actually required in case they forgot to fill it out.
This isn’t right. There should be a toggle that makes the order special instructions note required!

If you feel that the verbiage alone isn’t enough to ensure customers fill it out, the next thing I would recommend is a custom coded solution.
I’m confident one of our Shopify experts would be able to accomplish this at a reasonable price. Just wanted to share this as an option in case you are unable to find a coding solution in your thread.
